Preop diet day 3

So I am home with my son today and I am struggling. I feel like I have a bottomless pit. I have figured out part of my problem. I bought "energy" crystal light mixes and I think the caffeine is making me jittery and hungry. I will go to the Wallie World tonight and get regular mix so I won't feel this way. I go for my preop visit with my doctor and for labs next Thursday. Another question... Do you need someone to stay at hospital with you at night? My husband will be at home with my son and my mom has used all her sick time to be with my grandmother...so unless I let my M-I-Law stay or a friend, I will be alone. Did anyone feel like they needed anyone at night or were you sleepy and wanted to rest???

  1. Hi! New Follower ~ LBG sent me over. I did not have someone stay with me over night - I was sooo out of it - but I did share my room with another Lap Band patient - we ended up bonding and giving each other support. I spent most of the night walking the halls and asking for pain killers - no biggie. I def needed my husband when I got home.
    Good luck!

  3. Hi! New follower...LBG sent me over. I didn't have to spend the night in the hospital, and if I had I think I would have been fine without anyone. My husband was very helpful when I was at home though! Good luck!

  4. Hi!! LBG sent me over as well.. I spent the night in the hospital due to some breath issues after surgery, but I didn't have my husband stay with me..He was there for the surgery and saw me settled into my room then went home.. I preferred it that way. I wanted time to myself and to take care of me and not have anyone hovering over me, the nurses did enough of that, LOL... Good luck with your up coming surgery..

  8. Hi! LBG sent me over! Congrats on your upcoming surgery. I didn't have to stay overnight with my surgery. My surg. was at 1 in the afternoon and I was home by 5. My MIL was there for my baby and when the boys got off the bus, but then it was just my hubby taking care of all of us! First couple days are rough but feeling awesome now!

  9. I had the vertical sleeve but I was fine by myself and actually preferred it. I was able to get up, unplug my IV pole, wheel myself to the bathroom, pee, wheel back, plug myself back in, reattach my foot massager-thingy-mabobs, etc. And my surgery didn't even happen til like 6 or 7pm....

  10. Hi Honey Bee! LBG sent me over, too!

I had my band on March 2, and I was fine by myself overnight in the hospital. Just remember to use the pain medicine when you need it - it's important to stay ahead of any pain you may have!

Good luck!! We'll be cheering you on in blog-land!

  11. Hi, I came over from LBG's blog as well. I was banded 3/13 in Great Falls Montana. Day three of the pre-op diet is the worst, after that I felt pretty darn good and lost 11 pounds on pre op alone. I Drove myself three hours to the town I had surgery in. Had bloodwork and EKG that day, stayed the night in a hotel and walked 20 blocks to the surgery center the next morning. I had surgery at 7 am and stayed at the surgery center until about 4:30 pm. A friend picked me up and drove me to my hotel where I stayed alone that night. I wanted to be alone, quiet, focus on taking care of myself for once....Stayed off the pain meds after 10 pm so I could drive myself to my barium swallow test the next morning and back to the hotel where I slept another 4 hours and got up and drove myself home 3 hours and picked up my 3 kids from daycare, went home and made dinner and did dishes. Day 2 no pain meds until 6 pm. Now Day three was the worst for me, but I was able to stay home and rest once I got the kids to daycare in the morning. SO MY POINT IS, you should be ok staying alone that night if you are determined to do so, and know when to ask for help if you need it. Congratulations on your decision.

  12. I didn't have an overnight stay... and no I wouldn't think they want someone to stay with you, I think that is only for the surgery itself, besides you will just want to sleep, until the nurses wake you up to go walking :-)

  13. I did stay the night, but I stayed by myself. I would not have wanted anyone with me. I didn't really sleep so I would have felt bad waking someone up every few minutes. I just walked and walked and sipped and sipped and peed and peed. That kept me busy!
